1.
In all three editions - Standard, Professional and Enterprise - you can pass on the Designer with most desktop applications without paying extra license fees and so to offer your end user a high performance report designer. (Please note our License Agreement).
2.
The concept of database independence makes you more flexible. It is not even necessary for your data to be in a database.
3.
List & Label is slim! It is made up of different DLLs and can be easily distributed with your application. You do not need to install any special database drivers on your customer's system for your reports.
4.
Applications with List & Label are comparitively fast, partly because the database driver does not need to be loaded twice.
5.
When printing, all the pages are passed directly to the Windows spooling system. This means that even when printing thousands of pages, your use of the resources will remain small and your solution slim.
6.
Different databases do not require separate reports. You will not end up having to have different versions of the same report, one for Sybase, another for SQL Server, and a third for Access ... You still need just one common project file in which the report is defined.
7.
The flexibility of List & Label allows you to easily change the development environment, if your application project necessitates this.
8.
While being developed completely in Germany List & Label is sold worldwide. You'll receive English support directly from us, the manufacturer. Your requirements, collected within surveys or directly communicated, play a very important role for the development of our products. All suggestions and wishes are managed in a database and will be checked for viability and relevance whenever we produce a new version.
9.
The various List & Label Language Kits allow you to switch the complete user interface to other languages - even during runtime! That prepares your application for international markets.
10.
Through its exporting features in nearly all common data formats, List & Label provides your application with interfaces to the rest of the world of software.
11.
With .NET, you can integrate List & Label in 3 simple steps. combit was among the first companies at the start of .NET, which is proof to you that we are always at the cutting edge and that you can expect updates for the use of future technologies.
12.
You can remove certain menu entries and object types from the Designer in order to adjust the complexity to the application or the end user.
13.
You will appreciate the ease with which you can lay out reports. List & Label deals with a page as a single entity and not as a sum of sections. If you want to place some text 0.5 inches from the bottom of the page, just put it there. You won't have to determine what section it should go in, create a section, add blank lines etc. just to get it to work.
14.
You can position objects in 1/10 mm or 1/100 Inch increments. This makes List & Label ideal for filling in forms. Furthermore, you can use a scanned form as background in order to position each element exactly.
15.
One of List & Label's strong features is printing labels: We included over 2000 label templates of well known producers. When printing, you can individually define the starting label on the sheet and even the printing sequnce and direction.
16.
Reports don't fall apart if the database is changed. If you add or remove a field that you don't need for the reports, you do not need to re-verify them.
17.
The ability to use existing code to retrieve and process data. Since with List & Label you write the code to retrieve the data, you can use the same data retrieval code as the rest of our program. You can also use the same processes as the rest of the program uses for the reports.
18.
You can save Preview files (reports with real data). The end-user may run the reports and then send them off site to be printed, or these files may be given to external organizations instead of paper copies or microfiche. They can also be used for archival purposes.
19.
In case the printers to be used often change you can set up the project with dynamic features so that objects position themselves, depending on the printable area.
20.
You have the ability to print legal paper reports on letter paper. If you print through the preview window and select another format afterwards you will shrink the project to fit.
21.
You can define the printer, the used paper tray and other printing options with many programming languages directly out of the code.
22.
The first and the following pages can have different parameters - like different trays with different paper - defined within the Designer or in the printing dialog.
23.
You can print the last page separately for example as your general terms and conditions. The options of each object for breakes that depend from a simple linkage make it possible.
24.
Reports can be created with a dynamically changing number of columns. You can set a column's width to 0 to hide it, and can dynamically change the widths of the other columns to achieve the report's optimum design.
25.
You can use printer fonts within your layouts.
