The Easter bunny as a symbol originated in southwestern Germany, where combit is situated. The custom of hiding eggs for children on the Christian Easter festival was first mentioned in the 1600s. At first a range of different animals brought the eggs. Depending on the region it was a stork, a cuckoo, a cock or even a fox. Later on the bunny prevailed as the egg bringer.
